The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Student Series • INDIANA STUDENTS OF THE YEAR
Make a difference in the lives of blood cancer patients everywhere.

WHAT
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Students of the Year Campaign (SOY) is an exciting leadership development and philanthropy program in which high school students participate in a fundraising competition.  The candidate or candidate team who raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year. In addition, there is a Mission Award given to the student candidate who excels in volunteerism and community involvement.

WHY
To join the fight against cancer and improve the quality of life for our patients and their families. Leukemia is the number one cancer killer of children under the age of 20. Candidates are helping students their own age battle these devastating cancers. Build your college resume with this leadership and philanthropic adventure. The  winning SOY candidate or candidate team will receive a $2,500 scholarship towards their college tuition. The Mission Award winner will also receive a $1,000 scholarship.

HOW
Students will rally their communities, schools and families to support their fundraising efforts. Along with their own websites, LLS provides students with materials and staff support throughout their campaign. Candidates will send letters, host events, solicit sponsorships and secure auction items.

WHEN
Candidates will fundraise for seven weeks. The campaign kickoff will be on Thursday, January 25th and the Grand Finale will be on Saturday, March 17th.
